About Sarah Thomson
Born and raised in Toronto, Sarah first became addicted to her camera while on an inspirational journey to the rain forests of Costa Rica. Upon returning from her trip, Sarah came across her Grandmother's old camera. She set up a darkroom in her mother's garage, and it was there that much of her youth was spent -- in the dark, practicing with chemicals and film.
A graduate of Sheridan College's Applied photography program. Sarah has grown into her own unique photographic style, which is continuously growing with every assignment she undertakes. She is constantly learning new digital techniques to enhance her final product.
To Sarah, the most beautiful things in the world are light and colour. With these two elements, one can invoke a wide array of emotions and create a visually stunning piece of work that stands out. When her images are not bright and colourful, they are soft black and whites that mimic great works from the era of black and white film photography and traditional darkroom techniques.
In the fashion industry, she has done Look Books for various fashion labels such as Adrienne Butikofer, Hibebe, Futurstate and Namoda. She was the featured photographer for Amazing Canadian Magazine's 20 page editorial with Lucain Matis and Rudsak. She also works with several modeling agencies.
In the music and entertainment industry, she shot the DVD cover for "Your Ex Lover is Dead." She has shot CDs and promo kits for bands and musicians, the most popular of which being Juno nominated God Made Me Funky, Bombing Neverland, The Knockouts and Natasha Pasternak . Also in her portfolio are promo shots for Arial Angels (circus athletes) which were featured in JPG Magazine. She is a contributing photographer for Dolce Vita Magazine.
Inspired by photographers such as Eugenio Recuenco , David Lachapelle, Richard Avedon, and Helmut Newton, photography is simply Sarah's passion. Her passion translates into beautiful images that are always cutting edge and ever changing.
